Well Child Check-ups for All

Thursday we went for both kids check-up. It's always an adventure with the two of them. Both were weighed and measured and then came the dreaded "pee in a cup" endeavor. Grace, at age 7, is an expert. She can even hold her own cup now (big smile from Momma). This was Philip's first attempt. He tried (with Momma holding the cut), he tried (with Philip holding the cup), and he tried (using the cup to completely enclose Mr. Willy and the crowned jewels). But no pee.

This was the first time we had seen this doctor in the practice and I really liked her. She was very good with the kids, asked them questions, and really listened to me. Grace had a vision and hearing screening which she passed with flying colors.

Philip had a vision screening. He had to look at pictures and name them. There was a chicken, a shirt, a bike, and then a handprint. When she got to the handprint one, she said, "What's this?" Philip replied, "It's a clue!" She looked at me for an explanantion. Blue's Clues. My son is a Blue's Clues fanatic.

Overall, they both are healthy and growing right on track.

It All Started with the Pink Shorts

All the teachers smiled at me when I entered the playground at Philip's school yesterday. They couldn't wait for me to see what he was wearing. Booger Boy had gotten his pants all wet and the teacher didn't know I had brought an extra pair of shorts, so they went into their clothing closet and found these. (I tried to post a picture of the pink shorts they put my son in, but it wouldn't work. So just imagine. Aha- got it to work).

They were the only pair they had that would fit him and that he would wear. Fine with me. I think most men look good in pink. BUT apparently it was the catalyst for the next incident.

I took Philip with me to a Pampered Chef party. He was good as gold! He played with toys and charmed the socks off the other ladies there. Ladies whom I had never met before. Ladies who seemed very nice. At one point I look over to see what Philip is doing and....

*Shock* He is naked as the day he was born. Yep, he had striped every bit of clothing, top to bottom, and was just standing there. Good news- I didn't get a picture of it. Bad news- It took some talking to convince him to put his clothes back on. Maybe he'll grow up to be a future nudist.

Watch the Wedder

Philip is our early riser. He is usually up by 6:00-6:30 am most days. On work days, that's not a bad deal- Randy and I are up and at 'em. On the weekends, well----it sucks. But that's not the point of this post.

Monkey man came into our room shortly after 6:00 am one morning this week. I asked him if he wanted to watch Playhouse Disney (his usual). He said, "No, I want to watch the wedder."

"What?" said Mommy.

"Watch the wedder," says the Monkey man.

"Weather? You want to watch the weather?"

"Yes."

So MomMom left it on the wedder. Once it was over, I asked if he wanted to switch to Playhouse Disney. His response--

"No, I keep watch the wedder."

Where has my baby gone?

Happy Birthday, Pooh Bear!

Our "baby" girl is seven. I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around that fact. It seems like yesterday that she turned one; a sweet little girl with a little bit of hair. But, she really is seven. She is delightful, funny, and a good student. We love her beautiful skin, laugh, and determination.
Grace did not have school on her birthday so she went to work with Daddy. Aunt April brought doughnuts and I'm told my daughter ate five before noon. She played around Daddy's office and then went out to lunch with Daddy, Aunt April, and Mimi. Once we all made it home, we celebrated with a supper of spaghetti, cake, and presents. She got an i-Dog and Monopoly Junior. She loved both gifts and even made a little dog house for her i-Dog last night before she went to bed. When I found it the next morning, she had even put some paper beside him in case he had to go to the bathroom!
Grace says that this was the best birthday ever. We will have a party for a few of her friends next Saturday. She can't wait!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Little Man!

Our baby boy turned three today. He is so grown up and soooooo much fun. He took some cookie ice cream sandwiches to school today to share with his friends. We had pizza for supper tonight (one of his favorites) and then sang "Happy Birthday" to him. He got some Legos and an Elmo Aquadoodle.

He finished off his birthday celebration by playing with his new toys in his birthday suit. Yep, that's right. He stripped himself plum naked and sat there coloring on his Aquadoodle. What a fitting day!

Philip's loves: Elmo. eating, reading books, climbing, coloring, and talking.

Philip's dislikes: Being told no, any foods other than chicken nuggets, pizza, grilled cheese, spaghetti, or Mac and Cheese, taking a bath, and going to bed.

We adore this little boy. He (along with his sister) are our heart's delight. We feel blessed to be his parents.

Happy Birthday, Boo Boo! We love you more than anything.
